Kami Fusen
Developed in the 1890’s, Kami Fusen (paper balloons) emerged in Japan as a charming alternative to the rubber balloon. This simple toy was created by the wives of fishermen during the winter season with handmade paper, and became a delightful plaything for children in the summertime. In the early 1920s, Kami Fusen caught the eye of traditional Japanese manufacturers, who have continued to honour this charming tradition to the current day.
The paper balloons are easily inflated and deflated, and hold up for hours of play. They can also be used as a beautiful decorative work hung from the ceiling. Kindergallery holds Kami Fusen in a variety of endearing floral and animal designs. We love the idea of the rotund blowfish flitting this way and that as it is batted from hand to hand, or a ceiling decorated with gently swaying cherry blossoms. Kami Fusen are a lovely way to create your own summertime memories.
